25 Days of Christmas #1

Perhaps a theme will keep me on track?  I've gotten a little lax in my postings as of late.  Mostly, because I'm lazy.  And, because there isn't all that much going on in my life that's probably all that interesting to anyone other than me these days.

When I was thinking of doing a "25 Days of Christmas" run, I had some idea that the first day would be about decorating.  Umm...I haven't decorated yet.  Maybe tomorrow.

Instead, you are going to get a re-blog of a post I made on some other blog of mine three years ago.  It was from a series I called "My Favorite Things".  Seriously?  These are some of my favorite things.  Don't worry...it's not the thing so much that gets me.  :-)

I tend to get all worked up about the commercialism of Christmas.  (Should I save you from that rant?)  Let it be known I have no idea what else I was given in 2009 or 2010 or even in 2011.

My Grandpa Floyd has gift giving down to an art form.  Even in my dreams, I'll never be able to top this in my own gifting.

My Favorite Things #1  (originally blogged 12/22/2009)

My Grandpa sent these to me for Christmas. I already know this will be my favorite gift even though Christmas hasn't even arrived yet.

"Missy, I bought these bowls in 1946 in the fall in Ottumwa (Iowa). I paid $1.00 down and 25 cents a week until they were paid for. I made the money on Saturdays carrying out ashes and refilling the buckets with coal and getting them on the back porches. I gave them to mom (My great Grandma) for Christmas. Love, Grandpa."
Seriously, there is no way anyone could top this gift.
