Memorial Weekend

Yes, I am aware it's a week later.   It's how I roll these days. ;-)

Colonial Heights, VA

Grammy and Granddad's house:

This picture makes me laugh.

Guess who brought home more irises?

Haha...everyone is almost the same height now.  :-)

Whose child is this?

I wish I could do that.

Back in Damascus...

By now, you all know I take the same thing to every summer bbq I go to, right?

One random shot...don't I look innocent?

Saturday Morning Views

My second favorite flower...they are out of control with their blooming this year.  The whole front yard smells like irises.  :-)

Up early couponing...if I was good at it (or was willing to spend more time on it), I probably could have figured out how to get this for free.  But...I can deal with $15.  Is it weird I get all excited on Saturday knowing new coupons will be in tomorrow's paper?

Reading for the week.  I'm not done.  Basically, every night, I read a chapter or two from each of these.  Except for the sewing book...I just like to look at that one.

Smoothies!  A daily event for her.  Sometimes twice.

New yarn.  There's nothing like new yarn (except for maybe a new book) that makes my world go 'round on a (pretty sure it's going to be rainy) Saturday morning.

For my Grandma...

I thought I was going to stop this blog.  Because I'm kind of busy these days and who even reads the minutia of my life anyway?

So, I took it down.

5 or 6 days ago.

And at least a dozen people asked me "Where is it?"  And I said "I'm done with it.  Too busy."

Until my Gram asked me to "put it back up".  So...I guess I'm back?

For Mother's Day, we went to the theater to watch Flamenco dancing.  My kid and her mother and my mother and her mother.  Why didn't we take a picture of that?  Hmm...we'll have to get one in August.  (P.S...going to Chicago in August.)  So...uh...Flamenco dancing...3 hours of nothing in English and a bunch of people jumping around.  I was cool with it for about 90 minutes and then...yeah...time to go.

I do not have a long attention span and after awhile all of that starts to look and sound the same to me.

Pretty sure I didn't take any other pictures the whole week, last week.

I could write a book about it, though.  If I wasn't so freakin' busy.

The condensed version (in the order it all occurred):

Chapter 1:  You are not your sin.  (How many times do I need to hear this?)
Chapter 2:  Coffee.  Lots and lots of coffee.
Chapter 3:  1 Doctoral class down, 19 more to go.
Chapter 4:  What's that saying about letting a bird fly away?  Mix that with Prov. 27:17.

16

Baby Girl is 16 today.

We skipped school and went shopping.  We got pedicures, had lunch and loaded up on make-up (For once, I bought more in Ulta for me than I did for her.  How strange is that?).  Clothes, shoes, girly stuff...

And then...

Who knew I'd be cool with a belly button piercing?

Turns out...I'm cool with it (even if I was too squeamish to watch it happen).

Haha...after re-reading this, I guess I should clarify.  Her belly button...duh.  Mine...umm...I'm too old for that.

OC: Son Spot

Do not be fooled...it was COLD out there.  Ambient was probably 55-60, but the windchill...who knows?  COLD.  (Those crazy kids of mine went out in that water after we built the sculptures.  Ummm...lemme just say it was too cold to even stand out in that wind in a dry state.  I can't imagine doing it wet.)

This is their third time doing it, but I hope they always remember the opportunity of getting to work with a real artist.

Outreach...did I mention it was FREEZING?  There was some deception in this spot.  It seemed like the wind wasn't even blowing.  And then we went around the corner.  Ha.  We mostly stayed huddled up trying to block that wind from each other.

I love this picture:

A couple of nerds... ;-)

Sleepover.  Literally.  Minus the sleep.  Until 4 a.m.    The funniest thing Alicia's friend said was "You all like your 7-11."  What?  Just because we go up there multiple times per night, all night long...way past curfew...?

Kids sleeping everywhere...

As soon as we get in the car, they always want to know when we are stopping to eat.  For real.  Son Spot is like a non-stop food fest.  I think I'm good for the rest of the week.  :-)

Celebration #1.  #2 happened on the way home.  #3 is tomorrow.  We are skipping school to go shopping and then to the piercing place.  More to come on that.  :-)

This:

1 Kings 18:41-45

Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.” So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.”
So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’”  Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.

...pretty much sums it up.  :-)

Unrelated Stuff

1.  This is how it looks...multi-tasking.  Yay.  Only 1.5 weeks left of this class.  Well, that and a ginormous paper I'm totally lost in.  (But...who cares?  I'll get it figured out.)  And then my other two classes start.

2.  The best line I've read all day (I stole it from some blog.): Food and God and Americans -- what a mess.  Pretty much.

3.  I'm thinking about getting someone to clean my house.  On a regular basis.  How does one go about finding someone like that?  Who knew I'd actually get to this point?  I'm there.  It's just not possible to do it all.  Not today, anyway.
