Road Trippin' 2013.1

Brookfield Zoo

Pretty sure this is my favorite zoo of all the zoos I've seen thus far.  The St. Louis Zoo runs a close second.  Our local zoo (Smithsonian) is not nearly as fun.  One of the best things about this zoo are there a lot of zookeepers available to talk about the exhibits, answer questions, etc...

Waiting for the dolphin show to start.

Sea lion?

Sting Ray Bay...Alicia liked this the most.  You can "pet" them and they'll eat raw shrimp right out of your hand.

Another thing I love about this zoo is the fact there are exhibits that make you feel close to the animals.  In the primate house, there isn't anything separating the animals from the viewers except for space.

Ok...so there is this one weird exhibit: Dinosaurs.  I didn't really "get it".  Maybe it's intended for 3 year olds who are going through that "hyper-focused on dinos" phase?  Basically, you walk around and look at plastic models (that move) of dinosaurs.  They seem like they should be in an amusement park instead of a zoo.  So, yeah...I didn't get it.  Still, we looked at them.  ;-)

Aquarium

Penguins...Magellan I think.  If you've ever been to the St. Louis Zoo (which has an extremely awesome penguin exhibit), these are kind of a let down.  Otherwise....perfectly lovely.  :-)
